Forests are a part of watersheds; and forests and watersheds are
used and enjoyed by communities of people (and nonhumans too!).
How can we work together to create healthy and sustainable forests,
watersheds, and communities? This is the core question our educational
programs ultimately address.
Our programs are free to participating schools, and are of three varieties:
- Brief field and classroom introductions to our 78-acre forest and surrounding watershed, conducted by an ACCF representative
- Widely-used natural resource curricula like Project
Learning Tree which can be implemented at the forest and/or
watershed scale
- A larger, comprehensive initiative we are developing called Oregon Explorers, suited primarily for middle and high school-aged youth. Oregon Explorers is a field, classroom, and computer lab-based opportunity for youth to learn about Oregon’s natural resources and watersheds and contribute to their sustainable use. If you'd like more information, here is a proposal that was recently funded.
Please contact ACCF for information on any of our educational programs, and a representative will schedule an appointment to meet with you.
